| The Northwest Nebraska High Country is formed and run by a group of rural land-owners. We are for the most part ranchers and farmers, offering various horse related type services or activities, among other things, on our properties in Northwestern Nebraska. You will find full-fledged working ranch vacations, the use of a cabin and corrals or pastures for you and your own horses, and lots of land to ride. Some members are now also organizing a "ranch-to-ranch" ride! Some also offer over-night facilities for the travel weary horse and owner. The scenic Pine Ridge area of Northwestern Nebraska, which is central to the group's members, is often referred to as "The Last Frontier". This area is still largely agricultural with scattered ranches and farms and it is sparsely populated.

This area has many things to see and do - Historic Fort Robinson, where Lakota warrior Crazy Horse was killed in 1877, offers horse and rider miles of trails; the National Forest on the Pine Ridge also has an extensive trail system through the wooded trails and creek bottoms. Crawford's 4th of July PRCA Rodeo draws participants from all over, and there are many other rodeos in the area during the summer months. Any of the land-owners offering cabin and horse facilities will place you in close proximity to these sites, as will the horse motels. |
| If you are looking to be a cowboy or cowgirl for a week or so, and to experience every-day life on a real cattle ranch, you can visit one of the ranches offering ranch vacations. Here you ride ranch horses and get to drive cattle and participate in all kinds of ranch chores. |  |
